I recently shot with Laura, and this one was a little different in the best way. We first met through a Boheme shoot, and it was so nice to reconnect – this time to capture some fresh portraits for her website and new course launch, Mastery of Alignment. 

We started in the studio, where Laura ran a class with a few students. I captured her adjusting, cueing, and teaching in real time and you can really feel the calm, supportive energy in those shots. Nothing posed or forced, just her doing what she does best.

Now, I don’t usually shoot in urban spaces (I’m more of a beach and forest kinda gal), but we decided to head outside the studio and I’m so glad we did. We had textured walls, soft lighting, little pockets of space to play with. Laura moved so effortlessly, blending into the space with flexibility and flow. We also managed to sneak in a few fun little portraits.

If you don’t already know her, Laura is a yoga teacher and the founder of Mahara Shala. She’s been teaching since 2009 and brings together Yoga, Pilates and Philosophy in a way that’s clear, accessible, and deeply thoughtful.

Her course, Mastery of Alignment, is all about diving deeper into 60+ postures, learning safe hands-on assists, and building the kind of teaching practice that’s both strong and intuitive. It’s made for yoga teachers and anyone wanting to refine their practice with care and clarity.
